After making the move to Las Vegas I never realized how much I love and miss trees. Yes trees. Vegas is beautiful in its own way, but it’s a different kind of beauty. The desert is filled with mountains, rocks, and open skies. Plush greenery is not something you see every day.

In Mississippi nothing compares to when Summer turns into Fall. The trees’ beautiful leaves turn into different shades of orange, yellow, green, and brown. It’s a season I’ve always loved, but never fully appreciated until now.

So with Edition 6 of 4 Da Sip, I wanted to bring a little piece of home with me. By introducing Real tree Camouflage alongside our new script logo.

Camouflage is more than a pattern in the South. It’s almost a color of its own. Not only is it worn for hunting but, you’ll find it everywhere. At football games, family cookouts, and grocery stores, it’s woven into Southern culture.

When I Think about it, camouflage means something deeper to me.

Yes, camo helps things blend into their surroundings, but as I was growing up, I spent my life doing the same.

As a kid, I was constantly trying to figure out where I belonged. Where I fit in. Part of me wanted to stand out, but another part of me wanted to disappear into the crowd. In middle school, blending in felt safer than being myself. By high school, I had a better understanding of who I was, but the new version of myself wasn’t accepted….

It wasn’t until college that I finally stopped hiding, and began to embrace every part of who I am—a Thinker, a creative, and a proud Black queer woman from Mississippi.

That’s what Chapter 6 represents.

It’s a reminder that there’s nothing wrong with blending in while you’re finding yourself. But eventually, we all deserve the freedom to step into the person God created us to be.

This hat is dedicated to little Bianca, and to every Thinker who’s ever felt different, searched for a place to belong, and learned that the very things that set you apart are what make you who you are.

It’s for you.

The person who loves Southern Culture, Camouflage, and want to rep Da Sip, where life takes you.
